Fairfield County Implants & Periodontics sponsored the 2nd Annual Vicki Soto 5K on November 1st. Team Sonick gritted teeth in the cold and wet of Saturday’s run to benefit the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund. All in all it was a great day of fun and everyone did a great job! The roads were lined with decorative flamingos and everyone sported the Vicki Soto 5K shirts featuring the theme “Live, Laugh, Love”. The race went off to a good start following the national anthem played on bagpipes, which seemed fitting in the weather. Enthusiasm was in the air and the finish line was lined with cheering supporters. Smiles warmed the event as racers gathered for refreshments following the race.
Vicki lost her life tragically in the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012 protecting her first grade students. Many of those students are alive today because of her heroic efforts to hide and protect those children whom she dearly loved.
The Memorial Fund has been created by her family to honor Vicki and her commitment to education. In carrying on with her legacy, all donations and money raised goes to the fund and will be used toward those who aspire to teach and want to pursue the field of education.
